Dr Jamie Wiebe
Jamie is a passionate advocate for global public health, dedicated to leveraging evidence-based policies to create a positive impact. With a Ph.D. from the Department of Medicine, Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, Jamie brings over 20 years of expertise in gambling harm prevention, treatment, and operationalizing player health programs.
Jamie's leadership has been pivotal in providing strategic direction and guidance in the design, analysis, and interpretation of numerous research projects aimed at reducing potential harm to players in the gambling industry. As the former Director of Player Health at BCLC, the regulatory authority for gambling in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, Jamie oversaw the entire player health department. Her responsibilities included managing research initiatives, the GameSense Advisor Program, Player Health Marketing and Product Assessments, Voluntary Self Exclusion program and policies, as well as the prestigious New Horizons Conference.
Throughout her career, Jamie has been at the forefront of bridging the gap between industry and research. Her innovative work has not only enhanced understanding within the gambling sector but has also embedded player health principles into the core culture of organizations. Prior to her role at BCLC, Jamie served as the Managing Director of Advancement and Best Practices at the Responsible Gambling Council in Toronto.
Currently serving as the Group Executive General Manager of the Crown PlaySafe Strategy Team for Crown Resorts, Jamie continues to lead in developing a robust Player Health Strategy for all customers. Her vision and commitment to creating a safer and more responsible gaming environment make her a driving force in the industry.
